Methodology
Where the data comes from
Every shipment on bexy is read from Evergreen's public cargo-tracking record by its Bill of Lading number, so each vessel, port and container milestone is the carrier's own statement, not an AIS position feed.
Route, port and carrier statistics are rebuilt every night from one snapshot of the shipments bexy holds. Transit times are estimates from the loaded-on-board date to the carrier's ETA, or its last planned arrival when it gives none; actual transit from the carrier's reported container discharges is shown separately where enough shipments carry it. Every statistics page states the number of shipments behind it and the date of its data. The methodology sets out the definitions, thresholds and limitations, and how to cite a page.
In the body of a shipment page, Bill of Lading numbers are masked after their first four characters for visitors, and registered users reveal them with a limited number of monthly unlocks. Routes, vessels, containers and dates are always open.
