FAQ
Frequently asked questions
- How do I track a container by Bill of Lading or container number?
- Paste an Evergreen (EGLV) Bill of Lading or container number into the search box. bexy finds the shipment — fetching one it has not seen yet from Evergreen's own tracking record, where a container number names the Bill of Lading it travels on now — and opens a tracking page with the vessel and voyage, every port milestone, the estimated departure and arrival, and the latest status of each container.
- Which carriers can bexy track?
- Evergreen (also known as Evergreen Line or EMC), whose Bills of Lading start with EGLV. bexy reads each shipment from Evergreen's own tracking record. Other carriers' Bill of Lading prefixes are recognised by the prefix lookup, but their shipments are not tracked.
- Is bexy free to use?
- Yes. Tracking a shipment, browsing routes, ports and carriers, and reading vessel, port and container details are free and need no account. Only revealing a masked Bill of Lading number uses one of a registered user's monthly unlock credits.
- Why are some Bill of Lading numbers masked?
- In the body of a shipment page, visitors see a Bill of Lading number with all but its first four characters masked. Registered users can reveal it with one of a limited set of monthly unlocks, and an unlocked shipment stays readable to them permanently. Routes, vessels, containers and dates are always shown in full.
- How current is the tracking data?
- Each shipment is read from the carrier's own tracking record when it is first found, and shipments past their estimated arrival are re-checked in hourly batches until the carrier reports them at their final destination, or until 30 days after the estimated arrival if it never does; a shipment someone watches for email alerts is also re-checked about every 12 hours until the watch ends. Searching for a shipment also re-reads it when bexy last read it 6 hours ago or more, within an hourly limit on such re-reads, unless a status already reports the shipment at its final destination or bexy has taken its final reading of it. Vessel and port details are the carrier's statement, not live AIS positions. Route, port and carrier statistics are rebuilt every night. bexy currently holds 786,537 tracked shipments, with route statistics for 252 trade lanes connecting 95 countries.
- Can I use bexy from an AI assistant?
- Yes. bexy runs a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, so Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients can track shipments and look up route and port statistics in plain language. Its public endpoint needs no account or token; a free personal access token from your dashboard also lets the assistant reveal Bill of Lading numbers with your monthly unlock credits.
